Bukit Jangkrik Traditional Village

Before the reign of King Sri Kresna Kepakisan in Bali, Bukit Jangkrik Traditional Village was still a dense forest in line with the time with the arrival of Ida Sri Kresna Kepakisan to Bali Island and lived in Sabrang Forest which became the forerunner of the establishment of Samplangan Village which is now known as Samplangan village. Approximately 1357 - 1364 AD where Sri Aji Kresna Kepakisan was the King of Sabrang Forest or Samplangan. Since his reign Samprangan or Samplangan became the capital or center of government in Bali.
Because Samprangan became the royal capital and center of government, many people came and lived there. Similarly, the forest in the northeast of the royal capital was grabbed by people who wanted to build close to the center of government. The people who grabbed the forest were the confidants of Ida Sri Aji Krishna Kepakisan, consisting of several clansmen, including: Arya Kloping, Arya Wang Bang Pinatih, Arya Pengalasan, Dangin, Pulesari, Abasan, Medura, Pande and Pasek.

When people were resting at the bottom of the hill, in the middle of the night the sound of cicadas was very loud and melodious, making those who heard it become amazed. The people at the foot of the hill wanted to know the source of the sound of the cicadas and slowly climbed the hill to find the source of the sound of the cicadas. How surprised they were when they saw a very large cicada on a rock, appearing to glow, amazed the people who saw it. Since then, over time, after the forest was cut down and used as a residential area, the area was named Bukit Jangkrik. That's why the area is now called Bukit Jangkrik Traditional Village.
